Refuge is a large semi-circular sculpture made of wood that can be accessed by the viewer.

 

Cutting the wood in this specific pattern enabled the release of pressure along the beams and allowed for the curve in any direction. A seemingly natural curve of the wood emerged and kept each piece intact.

 

Refuge is a testament to countless hours of repetitive work that led me to achieving my vision. Along this journey I confronted my own hopes, fears and anxieties. With the completion of this sculpture and its embracing form, came a sense of refuge
